FURNISS RESIDENCE

Yellowknife, NT

2001

This design of this residence in Yellowknife prioritizes maximizing views of the surrounding community and landscape. To do this we created a 3-storey dwelling with a rooftop deck that incorporated a lantern tower to bring light into the centre of the home. The building incorporates a flat roof, which allows for a 360° view of the neighborhood and beyond to the Great Slave Lake, as well as providing space for large rooftop gardens.

All of the materials used were designed to have a 30-year life span including custom milled fir floors and corrosion resistant metal siding, with colours inspired by the deep blue Sub-Arctic sky.
