AYSIA LOWELL GUY

ARCHITECT AIBC/ STUDIO LEAD, BC
Aysia is an inspired, community-minded Architect interested in contributing to a holistic* built ecosystem as diverse as the people and natural environments that animate these built spaces. Holistic here means the striving towards a complete and integrated architectural process. A process that considers the entire supply chain from extraction of materials, to the integration of community resources in project delivery, and finally the ethical deconstruction of a building at end-of-life. Holistic also encompasses the interplay with adjacent and superimposed natural and human ecosystems across the life of the building.
Aysia has project management experience on Indigenous community projects as well as in the provincial and regional government, health and healing, commercial, and domestic sectors with her former employer. Her work experience extends to educational spaces for school districts and a college, feasibility studies, and committee work, with her former employer, to develop the meaningful inclusion of Indigenous voices in all work, and to develop an ethical building material library.
Originally from Chief Drygeese Territory (Yellowknife, NT) and presently living on Sinixt, Ktunaxa, and Syilx lands (Nelson, BC), Aysia savors meditation, learning, dance, art, coffee, fashion, yoga, cooking, recharging in and learning about nature, spending time with her family and community, talking to strangers, snowboarding, and community event organizing.
